The Cancer Platform via Think Public

The Cancer Awareness Trust is a brand new charity. They were looking to design a platform to deliver trusted, personalised information and support. They are on a mission to help people live well with cancer.

This project was delivered as a freelance project with Think Public leading the work.

Crafting a vision.

The Cancer Awareness Trust and Think Public had already undertaken in-depth user research with people living with cancer to understand their needs around information and support.

Before beginning to shape ideas for the proposition for their digital platform, we worked as a team to craft a vision from the user research findings. This vision helped guide our work throughout and provided us with our scope and focus.

Proposition development and testing.

Building from the user needs identified during the research, we sketched out a series of possible features for inclusion in the charities minimum viable product (MVP). We worked to develop creative directions built around different value propositions and brought these to life through low fidelity wire framing.

Working side-by-side with a small group of people living with cancer we tested our early thinking, iterating live in the research sessions until we landed on a proposition that felt right for them and the charity.

Scoping an MVP.

Using the findings from the testing, we moved into developing the scope and sizing the features for the development of the MVP. We designed and built a proof of concept prototype, using low fidelity UI and branding styles to bring the platform to life with a view to securing further funding.

This project is currently in the process of securing additional funding, you can find out more on The Cancer Awareness Trusts website.

“Emma truly brought the joy to the design process, helping my team take my idea and put it into the beginnings of a pitchable MVP. Visualising the platform and understanding the user experience is key to getting our backers to understand our vision and Emma was key to getting this right.”
